If you need to see a doctor when your GP practice is closed please telephone 01372 738373 (6pm-9pm each weekday and 9am-1pm Saturday and Sunday) to make an appointment in a local GP Hub or alternative call 111 for the non emergency NHS 111 advice service.
Unfortunately some of our staff are unable to get to the surgery during the Snow and Icy conditions. We unfortunately may have to cancel appointments at short notice or possibly close the Practice. Please telephone to check that your appointment is still available during these exceptional weather conditions. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
If you need urgent medical attention please dial 999. If you require medical advice and the GP is unavailable please contact NHS 111.
SMS Text Service
Tadworth Medical Centre now has the facility to use an SMS text service supplied by Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group. This will send patients a reminder of appointments and enable them to cancel if necessary. The service will also text patients after they have seen a clinician and give the chance to complete a Friends and Family test offering feedback to the surgery. In order for this service to work efficiently please ensure that we hold the correct mobile phone number for you.
We are currently holding various flu clinics for our registered patients. Please contact Reception to make an appointment. However we are often able to offer an appointment with the Nurse or Health Care Assistant for a flu jab as a 'walk-in' most days for our patients who are eligible for a flu jab this year. Please ask at reception or during an during your appointment if you are at the surgery.
We like to listen
A recent survey showed that many of our patients were not happy with our telephone system. We listened to your complaints and have carried out a full review. We recently installed a new phone system with standard local charges only as well as cutting our 'queue waiting' numbers in order that patients will have their calls answered quicker. We welcome your feedback.
We are unfortunately aware and sorry that our patients are finding it increasingly difficult to get the appointments and services that you would like and expect from us. This is frustrating for us too and we would like to explain the reasons why if we can, as well as assure that we are trying very hard to make sure that we provide you with the best possible care.
As regularly reported in both the National and Local News, you will no doubt be aware that the NHS is under extreme pressure, mainly due to the uphill financial struggle and the increasing amount of patients joining the health service. People are living longer and living with more complex health needs. Unfortunately the investment in general practice has reduced whilst the workload has sharply risen and all these facts add to the pressure of the amount of appointments your GP can safely offer.
Despite all of this, Tadworth Medical Centre are completely committed to providing our patients with the best possible service that we can offer and are always looking for ways to improve where we can. We feel very lucky to have recently recruited our Nurse Practitioner, Chelsea Blake, who is able to work alongside the doctors and offer treatment for your minor medical problems as well work as a Practice Nurse. We are also now offering both early morning and evening routine appointments on certain days to try and help patients who need to see a doctor but have commitments during the normal working day.
We all want the NHS to continue and we work hard to make sure this happens. The NHS is there for us all to use responsibly. Please think about where you can get the most appropriate help for your needs. There are excellent local pharmacies who are able to provide advice, support and over the counter treatments where they can as well as the non emergency NHS 111 telephone service. Patients may call 111 and speak to a trained advisor who will assess and direct you to the best medical for you.
